Gameiversary: The Video Game Anniversary Project

258wj5u (1)We’ve been a bit busy these past few months (both personal issues and work-related issues), but we have remained to be productive in areas. One such area – and perhaps the only one that’d have relevance to you guys at all – would be Coin Arcade’s Gameiversary project, which has been in the process of a test run since late May.

Formed around a manually-made database, Gameiversary aims to bring attention to each day’s video game anniversaries. Primarily a Twitter project, Gameiversary also has a Facebook group and a work-in-progress site (which uses the Twitter feed as its source).

Created originally as a Coin Arcade resource for articles, we figured it’d be of interest to the rest of the world – and we were right, with many Gameiversary tweets gaining hundreds of retweets, often including the developers themselves (i.e. DOOM 3’s 10th anniversary tweet was shared by id Software, Bethesda and the official DOOM account.) Anniversaries are correct to the best of our knowledge, celebrates various international release dates and excludes any games which exact anniversaries are uncertain or unconfirmed.

If you’d like to keep up with a daily dose of nostalgia, take a gander at Gameiversary via Twitter (our primary source), Facebook and our site-in-progress. Feel free to share our celebrations of games you particularly love!

As a footnote, Gameiversary doesn’t take a lot of my time up as creating the database was the main bulk of work, so whilst the project is mighty interesting, it’s not to be taken too seriously.
