‘FreeIndieGam.es’ Shuts Its Doors After Two Years

FIG2It’s come as an unexpected hit, but unfortunately the FreeIndieGam.es blog has shut its doors after two years of service.

Founded by indie developer Terry Cavanagh (VVVVVV, Super Hexagon) in March 2012 and curated by several other developers and indie game lovers over its course, FreeIndieGam.es ended up being one of the primary sources for discovering new free indie games.

Believing that the growing mainstream attention to indie games was beginning to shun newer free games, the blog helped set many games – and developers – in the spotlight and introduced us to hundreds of fantastic games that most of us would otherwise have missed.

This close comes to a blow to me personally, as in recent years alternatives such as The Daily Click have been losing traction and IdealSoft Blog appears inactive.
FIG1Thankfully, the site will remain in its current state indefinitely so that its archives can still be seen by the indie game-loving masses and newcomers. Check out the archives here or play a random game. If you’re looking for alternatives to the site, the following are great places to grab some free indie game actions.

Thanks for the run, guys. Your dedication has been appreciated.
