SEGA Returning to Hardware… With SEGA Console Inspired Netbook Computers

SEGA laptopsSEGA are sort-of-but-not-really-whatsoever returning to the hardware market with these netbook computers based on their retro consoles.

Distributed by Japanese PC retailer Enterbrain, these netbook laptops (dubbed as ‘Sega Net PC’) are seemingly going to be Japan-exclusive, but coming in at around ¥99,750 – ¥194,250 (that’s around £700 – £1300) that might not be too big a problem. You can view their full specs here, but unless the separately sold interchangeable plates and included SEGA Windows themes and music tracks especially attract you, it’s unfortunately not anything that particularly warrants its price-point.

I can’t help but feel they’ve missed a golden opportunity here by putting some emulated versions of the most popular games of each designated console for each netbook; as in, the Dreamcast netbook gets Dreamcast games included, the Mega Drive one gets Mega Drive games included and so on.
